Experienced rafters and adrenaline-loving newbies alike will love the whitewater rapids that await on the Naranjo River. Roaring from the coastal mountains above Quepos, the waterway features fast and often frenzied Class IV rapids.
Your roughly four-hour ride snakes through a slew of geological wonders. Blast past towering canyon walls that drop sheer faces to the water’s edge. Twist around rocky bends and craggy curves through dramatic gorges. The jaw-rattling run finally settles as you float toward the Pacific Ocean.
But it isn’t all white waves and rushing currents along a rockbound route. Between the dramatic Class IV stretches you’ll glide past lush riverbanks covered by pristine jungle flora. Keep an eye out for an amazing variety of birds including keel-billed toucans, ringed kingfishers, and white ibises. Enjoy scenic views of wide palm plantations and fertile farmland. But keep wary — raging rapids could lie around each new bend.
That depends on the adventure you seek. Rushing waters are more intense when the levels rise during Costa Rica’s green season from May to October. During the rainest part of our green season, the river is often only available with the morning start time - an agent will advise you at booking. The Naranjo river closes during our dry season each year.
After your thrilling ride, a tranquil stroll through nature sounds like a good idea. The Naranjo River forms the southern boundary of Manuel Antonio National Park. Walk sandy tree-shaded paths through cool lowland rainforest, pausing to take in waterfalls and diverse wildlife.
Board a boat for a scenic cruise along a series of mangrove-lined canals that wind through lush rainforest. Onshore you’re likely to spot sloths lazing in trees. You’re guaranteed to see a variety of tropical birds and a host of playful monkeys that call the forest home.
Set off from Jacó for a brief but breathtaking ATV tour. Minutes after leaving town you’ll be tearing up a nature trail on an ascension to lookout points over the Pacific Ocean and Nicoya Peninsula. Cruise along mountain passes through rainforest terrain, stopping to view a waterfall and enjoy a beverage at a hideaway restaurant.
However you pair your river rafting, you’re guaranteed to enjoy a unique nature getaway and the adventure trip of a lifetime.

The Naranjo Rafting Tour was Amazin. It is worth the trip.
One of the coolest spots to go rafting is in Costa Rica. Adventure tours is the place to check out if you are planning a vacation
My mom took my brother and I on a rafting adventure through adventure Tours Costa Rica. It was really fun getting to spend some time with the family, but at the same time yeah but I’ll let loose and go wild. The water was absolutely gorgeous and the rafting was the most fun I’ve ever had. It was cool to be able to battle with my brother to see who is better while mom just sat back and laughed.
Adventure Tours is the real deal! The place to go for outdoor activities. You guys offer the best rafting I have been on. It was the perfect amount of challenge mixed in with pure fun. I love pushing the limits of my own comfort. You guys allow me to do just that, but in a very safe environment. You really did a great job with everything for your guests.
Took a trip with you guys to go surfing and rafting. I also did a little bit of Zip lining as well while I was there. They take you throughout the place, and make sure that you have gotten your moneys worth. The waves were perfect for riders and the rafting was intense. Everyone was about making the best of the time they had there so it was all peaceful vibes.Glad I chose you guys.
I had a great time going rafting. It was totally different than what I had imagined it would be like. My heart was racing with excitement and I could not stop myself from smiling the whole time. This place is a thrill seekers dream place. They also have things for the more mellow enthusiasts who are a bit more reserved when it comes to fun outdoors.
The rafting and zip line tour were both real cool. Adventure Tours Costa Rica brings the term fun in the water to a whole new level. They should just make their slogan ”come for the fun, stay for the friendly”. The time I spent there was some of the more memorable times I have gone through. I think anyone could make a vacation around these activities pretty easily.
My aunt and I took a trip to Costa Rica over the summer. We booked a few tours with Adventure Tours Costa Rica while we were there. The river rafting was awesome, and I can’t wait to zip line again. We weren’t able to get to see the monkeys this time, but I’m hoping we get a chance to make it back here and do so. fingers crossed.
This was my first time going rafting. I was really nervous when I first got there. After talking with the guides I was a lot less nervous then I was when I arrived. They walked me through everything step by step. After a few minutes of talking with them I was ready to give it a go. I went through with it(even though I was very scared at first) and I'm glad I did. Thanks for helping me get over my fears and enjoy life a little more.
We booked several tours with this company and we couldn’t be happier. We did both Manuel Antonio and Carara tours as well as the aerial tram tour and white water rafting tours. All of the staff and guides were knowledgeable and professional. We even made a change of plans on the day of one of our tours and we were accommodated exactly as we wanted.
